“It’s crazy to hear” - Kickboxing legend Anissa Meksen says being an inspiration to the younger generation fuels her drive
Anissa Meksen knows there's more to fighting than piling up wins and collecting belts.The French-Algerian legend believes one of the most fulfilling aspects of being a professional fighter is being a role model for the younger generations who want to lace up the gloves in the future.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Meksen said she always feels a different kind of fulfillment whenever her fans approach her and tell her how much of an inspiration she is to them.
Anissa Meksen said:
"Yeah, I’m proud of myself. When somebody tells you, ‘You are amazing,’ it’s crazy to hear that because you just did it for yourself at the start. But if you can inspire some people, it’s just amazing.”
Meksen is undoubtedly one of the greatest fighters of all time. 'C18' holds an impressive 103-6 professional record, and has won multiple world titles across with WBC Muay Thai, Enfusion, Kunlun, WAKO, ISKA and Glory.
She's since made her mark in ONE Championship, where she holds three dominant wins heading into her shot at the ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title.
Meksen will face Filipino-American standout Jackie Buntan for the inaugural world title in the stacked ONE 169 card on Nov. 8 at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
This will be the second time Meksen will challenge for ONE Championship gold after she fell short against Phetjeeja for the ONE interim atomweight kickboxing world title.

Jackie Buntan plans to bring the fight to Anissa Meksen in Bangkok
Anissa Meksen might be in for the fight of her life when she takes on Jackie Buntan at ONE 169. Buntan said she'd bring the fight to Meksen when they clash for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title.
In an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Buntan said:
"The plan is to get in there and make it a fight, you know. Do what I do, be Jackie, and fight how I fight, but it's gonna be a different look this time under kickboxing rules."
