“It's going to affect her gas tank” - Stamp Fairtex says long absence will impact Alyona Rassohyna in comeback
Reigning and undisputed ONE women's atomweight MMA world champion Stamp Fairtex of Thailand is deep into recovery mode as she nurses a torn meniscus suffered in training a few months ago.
In her absence, ONE Championship has decided to introduce an interim atomweight world title, which will be contested between Denice Zamboanga and Alyona Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 25 in October.
While Stamp's close friend Zamboanga has been very active, Rassohyna has been out of action for quite some time, largely in part due to her becoming a first-time mother.
Rassohyna was last seen in a split decision loss to Stamp herself in September of 2021.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Stamp says Rassohyna may have a serious case of cage rust when she returns, which could affect the Ukrainian star's stamina.
The Fairtex representative said:
"I didn't know about that! Congratulations to her [becoming a mother]. If this is the first fight, it's going to affect her gas tank for sure. I understand she's been training, but fighting and training isn't the same thing. It's gonna be tiring for her."
Needless to say, Stamp will watch this fight closely. Whoever wins will be next in line for the 26-year-old Thai megastar.
Stamp Fairtex is committed to a full recovery and making an epic comeback
When atomweight MMA queen Stamp Fairtex eventually returns to action, she will not be without a plethora of options in terms of opponents.
Of course, the first order of business will be to defend her ONE women's atomweight MMA world title, regardless of who the opponent will be. Stamp says it doesn't really matter, and she isn't even thinking about that right now.
Instead, she is fully focused on healing up and getting better with the help of her father. She told Sportskeeda MMA:
"Every other day, my dad will drive me to Pattaya for rehab. It's a long drive."
