Belal Muhammad says Jorge Masvidal doesn't deserve a title shot, advocates for Kamaru Usman and himself (Exclusive)

Belal Muhammad thinks Jorge Masvidal has no business hanging around in the UFC welterweight title picture.

The way Muhammad sees it, there are only two individuals deserving of a title shot against Leon Edwards. They are Kamaru Usman and himself. As far as Masvidal is concerned, Muhammad believes it "doesn't make any sense" for 'Gamebred' to get a championship opportunity coming off three straight losses.

During an interview with Andrew Whitelaw of Sportskeeda MMA, the No.5-ranked welterweight contender said:

"Yeah, I don't wanna see Masvidal get a title fight. Not out of hatred for Masvidal, it just doesn't make any sense. And it's only gonna hold up the division. I think Usman earned the title shot rematch and if Usman is still gonna sit out a little bit, then it should definitely be me."

Muhammad also made a case for why he's the most deserving contender next to Usman. 'Remember the Name' added:

"I'm the only one with the longest streak in the division. We have history. It's the only thing that makes sense. Masvidal doesn't make any sense at all. He's in a three-fight losing streak. I know he has a big name, but how much are you just gonna give this guy title fights and keeps losing. So there's no point."

Looking ahead to his potential title contention, Muhammad was asked by Andrew Whitelaw if he's interested in fighting Khamazat Chimaev for the 170-pound belt. Muhammad responded by saying:

"If he stays in the division. Like I said, I'm gonna have the belt around my waist. And I'll take on all comers. I'm not a guy that picks and chooses. So if he's still out here, I'll give him a chance for my belt."
