“It’s going to be Superlek” - Superbon says fellow Thai megastar Superlek is the best technical fighter in Muay Thai

It's not rare for fighters at the top of the game to give props to their peers, and Superbon is no different.

The ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion is often called one of the best technical strikers of this generation, yet Superbon begged to differ and would gladly hand the distinction to Superlek Kiatmoo9.

Superbon, who started his professional career in Muay Thai, said Superlek's blend of innate power and unparalleled fight IQ makes him the best Muay Femur on the planet.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Superbon pointed out how the reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing and bantamweight Muay Thai world champion has him beaten in terms of Muay Thai's technical mastery.

Superbon said:

"Right now, if you can see the popular ones, it’s going to be Superlek. I can be too, but right now, Superlek is more popular."

There are several styles in Muay Thai, and Muay Femur is one school that emphasizes technique, defense, and movement over aggression.

Muay Femur fighters are often described as having the ability to easily switch between styles, while still maintaining that emphasis on technical ability.

Some of the best Muay Femur fighters in history are Thai legends Saenchai, Nong-O Hama, and Sam-A Gaiyanghadao.

Superbon, though, still remains as one of the best technical strikers on the planet, and he'll bring that IQ when he faces Jo Nattawut in a featherweight Muay Thai match this week.

The two Thai superstars will square off in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 81 on Sept. 27 at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium.

Superbon says Muay Thai is more detailed than kickboxing

Superbon reached superstardom in kickboxing, but his origins would always be in Muay Thai.

The Thai megastar is a multi-time world champion under Muay Thai and kickboxing, and his knowledge of the two disciplines runs deep.

In the same interview with the South China Morning Post, Superbon said Muay Thai is a more detailed discipline than kickboxing and is an artform that demands more from him every time he trains.

"There's more details in the techniques in Muay Thai - you can elbow, you can teep, you can sweep, you can knee. More details are more fun to keep my brain working harder."
