“It’s good for everyone to know self-defense” - Adrian Lee beaming with pride after introducing girlfriend to MMA
ONE Championship lightweight rising star Adrian Lee wants to keep martial arts close to home, which is why he thought it imperative to introduce MMA to his girlfriend.
Self-defense is always a recurring theme in martial arts, outside of competition. Lee believes everyone should have access to the knowledge of self-defense, as it is a basic life skill.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Lee revealed that he got his girlfriend into MMA. However, it doesn't seem like she will be competing anytime soon.
'The Phenom' said:
"I introduced her to [MMA] because I think it’s just good for everyone to know some self-defense. But yeah, she’s just doing it for fun."
18-year-old Adrian Lee will make his second appearance in the Circle early next month, as he heads to the United States.
Lee is set to lock horns with Nico Cornejo in a lightweight MMA contest at ONE 168: Denver, which broadcasts live from the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado on Friday, Sept. 6.
Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action live and absolutely free on Amazon Prime Video.
Adrian Lee inspired by significant other to succeed in MMA: "I’m grateful to have her by my side"
Adrian Lee's girlfriend serves as a motivation for the teenage sensation to succeed in the world's largest martial arts organization, which is just a good reason as any to strive to be the best.
'The Phenom' is currently 1-0 as a professional, after his pro debut against Antonio Mammarella last June. Now, he's going for his second straight victory against Nico Cornejo at ONE 168: Denver.
The 18-year-old told ONE Championship:
"Me and my girlfriend, we met a few years ago in high school and we’d been friends, and we just started dating a year ago. It means a lot to me, and it gives me another reason why I want to get to the top, and I’m grateful to have her by my side."
