“It’s a great challenge for me” - Gustavo Balart excited to go head-to-head with tough Jarred Brooks
Gustavo Balart shows no signs of fear or hesitance ahead of his interim title clash with American superstar Jarred Brooks on August 2.
As they return to the iconic Lumpinee Stadium to headline ONE Fight Night 24 in U.S. primetime, Balart looks excited to welcome probably the toughest challenge in his career up to this point.
With an Olympic pedigree, Brooks' skillset is not foreign to Balart. In fact, he believes that they both were called into this fight due to their accomplishments and outstanding record.
The Cuban star spoke to SerEbro EnlosDeportes recently on this huge opportunity for his life-long career. And when asked about how the fight will turn out, he said:
"It’s going to be a memorable fight. It’s a great challenge for me. In fact, I’ve wanted this fight against him for a very long time. So I’m excited because we are both big names."
The barnburner main event will indeed produce an exciting five-rounder between two high-level wrestlers, but spectators might also see a surprising knockout coming out from their powerful striking arsenal.
Jarred Brooks eager to make strong statement over Gustavo Balart
For Jarred Brooks, the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title fight is not only a crucial fight to reclaim the 26 pounds of gold, but also a chance to secure a rematch with his old nemesis Joshua Pacio.
Believing that he is the true divisional ruler despite losing the belt to Pacio in a controversial turnout of their rematch, Brooks wants to make known that he is still the best fighter there is.
However, Balart is no pushover. The Cuban fighter is blessed with strong grappling and striking acumen, as evident from his past performances in the world's largest martial arts organization.
At this point, those challenges would be a motivation for 'The Monkey God' to gain momentum in securing a rematch with the Filipino superstar.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in U.S. primetime, free of charge for Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
