"It's like a guy just showing his a*s" - Joe Rogan and Adam Sandler revisit Chris Rock getting slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars

Joe Rogan and Adam Sandler recently reflected on the infamous moment when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock during the Oscars. During the March 2022 Academy Awards, Smith unexpectedly strode onto the stage and struck Rock, who was hosting the event.

In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the veteran UFC commentator and Sandler discussed the aftermath of the highly publicized incident.

The 'Grown Ups' star shared that he spoke with Rock, who seemed enthusiastic about returning to stand-up comedy following the incident. Rogan speculated that this renewed energy is linked to the slap and expressed his thoughts on how the event has influenced Rock's career:

"It was also like the buildup because of getting slapped by Will Smith and all that crazy sh*t. I think that was the best thing that ever happened to him because then he became wild again; his stand-up was outrageous. It was like the Rock of old."

Rogan went on to reflect on the consequences for Smith and noted that the incident has tarnished the actor's legacy:

"It's like a guy just showing his a**—like you just pulled your pants down and showed the world your a**. Why did you do that? He probably wakes up in the middle of the night going, 'Why did I do that?'"

When Joe Rogan discussed Chris Rock’s savage response to Will Smith in Netflix special

In a March 2023 episode of his podcast, Joe Rogan, joined by Bert Kreischer, discussed Chris Rock's Netflix special 'Selective Outrage', reacting to Rock's blistering remarks about Will Smith and the slapping incident. The show marked the first time Rock publicly addressed the confrontation with Smith.

Rogan, who was present at the event, shared his reaction to Rock's performance:

"The sh*t about Will Smith was ruthless! Ruthless! It’s just like, imagine, you know, in life, you play chess, you move pieces around, you say, ‘I do this, and the counter would be that.' Imagine the thought like, 'I’m just gonna slap Chris Rock, one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time.'"

He added:

"It’s not like he’s going to tear my very vulnerable life apart after I smack him, with some of the best comedy that anybody’s ever written.' And he’s gonna hone it over a year before he releases it. It was a terrible, unprovoked attack. What a dumb thing to do."
