Chael Sonnen claims fans are lying about loving soccer as 2022 FIFA World Cup rages on
Chael Sonnen churned out a spicy take on soccer as the 2022 FIFA World Cup took center stage in the world of sports.
Chael Sonnen, a former UFC contender, admitted that he's a little snobbish when it comes to classifying what a sport is. On his YouTube show, Sonnen stated that he doesn't necessarily think non-contact activities like golf should be considered sports:
"I got to tell you, I don't respect a lot of sports. I don't think a lot of sports are sports. I don't think golf is a sport. I think it's an activity. ... I did 22 years in sports. I've earned that right. I've earned the right to that opinion. I wouldn't begrudge soccer. Soccer does some pretty cool stuff. I mean, soccer is like the U.S. postal service. Rain, sleet, or snow, they'll play. I respect that. I think that's hard."
Sonnen said that he does consider soccer a sport, but his problem with it is that a lot of people pretend to like it, even if it's too uneventful for his liking. The former three-time UFC middleweight title challenger continued:
"It's a long, drawn-out game. And no one wants to see it. I will tell you why, I'll put it on. If I can make a dollar in soccer, I would've put it on. I put on wrestling tournaments, I put on concerts, I put on raffle events, I put on mixed martial arts. I've never put on a soccer game 'cause I'm not sure that I can get anybody to come."

Chael Sonnen reacts to Greg Hardy vs. Hasim Rahman Jr.
Chael Sonnen may not be a fan of many sports, but when it comes to combat, the retired MMA fighter is always enthusiastic.
One of the most bizarre events this past weekend was the boxing bout between former NFL player and UFC fighter Greg Hardy and Hasim Rahman Jr. On a recent episode of his Beyond the Fight show, Sonnen chimed in with his thoughts on the matchup:
"So they bring in Greg Hardy. All right. That actually has my interest. I find Greg Hardy to be interesting. Like, there’s always something going on. Whether you’ve got this inhaler or you’ve got this big NFL guy that’s coming over, like, whatever it is, you’ve always got something with Greg Hardy, in my opinion."
Check out Chael Sonnen's comments:
Hardy defeated Rahman Jr. via unanimous decision (39-36, 39-36, 39-36) after four rounds of action. However, it's important to note that Hardy came in with a massive 94-pound advantage over his opponent.
