Nate Diaz being Jake Paul's next opponent will be "Jon Jones-esque", says Chael Sonnen
Chael Sonnen compared Jake Paul to Jon Jones while discussing a potential Nate Diaz fight for the YouTuber.
After beating Anderson Silva, Paul is expected to face Diaz in his next fight. However, Sonnen pointed out that getting Diaz to sign a contract could be a difficult task for Paul. During his Beyond the Fight YouTube show, Sonnen said:
"Now you're in a peculiar position. 'Cause if you sit down with Nate, you are going to sell him on the idea of the business. There's no title up. They don't have a personal beef, right? They didn't go to high school together and Jake used to pick on him. I'm just sharing with you, it's about the money. So if you're gonna sit down and you're gonna get the deal done, it's gotta be about the money."
Sonnen also pointed out that the odds are stacked against Diaz, considering the differences in age and size between the two. On top of that, Sonnen added that the low pay-per-view sales of Paul vs. Silva could discourage Diaz from taking the fight.
That said, though, the former UFC fighter reminded us that Paul's business model has always been about the anticipation of his downfall. With that in mind, Sonnen thinks Paul's run is very similar to Jones'.
"I mean, if you start to stack the deck, you start to see that fight is a bit of a problem. But that's not how the story can be told. That's not whatever driven this experiment. It's not to get behind Jake and support him. It's to find the guy and make sure you're tuning in the moment that he goes down. That's the number one driver. It's very much Jon Jones-esque in that way."

Jake Paul sets the stage for potential Nate Diaz fight
Jake Paul and Nate Diaz have already started feuding. Moments before Paul met Silva in the ring, 'The Problem Child's' crew caused some commotion backstage when the Stockton native attempted to enter Paul's locker room.
Of course, 'The Problem Child' wasn't very happy with the actions of his potential opponent. Speaking about the incident on his BS w/ Jake Paul podcast, the YouTube star said:
"He’s a f***ing problem. He just causes f***ing problems everywhere he goes. They got into three fights at the club this week in Scottsdale [Arizona] leading up. He wants to fight every – like, random f***ing people, bro. He’s got like 20 losses or something like that. He f—king sucks. Silva’s better than Diaz."
