"It's very pure out here" - Jonathan Haggerty says he has fallen in love with Colorado's pristine nature
Jonathan Haggerty has been able to experience a lot of different cultures during his career, but new destinations are always just around the corner.
The Brit has gone from living in England to being based out of Thailand. His next fight, however, required a very different lifestyle.
Fighting in Denver brings some additional challenges to the table because of the elevation that ONE 168 will take place on September 6. That's not to mention overcoming the jet lag that comes with such a long journey.
To prepare for this, the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion completed the final month or so of his camp in Denver, on location and ready to go.
Though the Ball Arena and his title defense against Superlek Kiatmoo9 is the reason he is there, Haggerty has enjoyed his time in the US whilst being focused on his training.
He spoke in an interview with ONE Championship about how he could get used to this lifestyle:
"I love it. I love the culture out here, everything. I love the mountains and being surrounded by the mountains. We were up there this morning, running the mountains. It's very pure out here."
Jonathan Haggerty isn't leaving anything up to chance
Taking that amount of time to settle in Denver shows just how professional Jonathan Haggerty has become during his time in ONE Championship.
When he first arrived at the promotion, 'The General' was a young man with a lot of potential who had recently suffered a defeat to Superlek. Now, the two men will run it back at the very top of the sport in the main event on September 6.
Not needing to disrupt his routines at the final stages of preparations could be a major boost for Haggerty, even if it doesn't end up having a physical impact.
Mentally, he knows that he has done everything he can to bring his best version to the Ball Arena.
