"It's really dangerous" - Lito Adiwang in awe of how Jarred Brooks drowns opponents in deep waters
ONE strawweight MMA contender Lito Adiwang knows firsthand how daunting of a task it is to overcome the intense pressure that Jarred Brooks brings.
'Thunder Kid' learned this the hard way when he welcomed Brooks to the home of martial arts at ONE: Next Gen III back in 2021.
While the Filipino was able to land some good shots on the feet, Brooks threw him around like a ragdoll and completely outclassed him on the ground.
Adiwang eventually succumbed to an arm-triangle choke in round 2, which ushered in 'The Monkey God's reign of terror in the strawweight MMA ranks.
On August 2, live in US Primetime, Brooks will vie for the interim strawweight MMA gold strap against third-ranked Gustavo Balart in the main event of ONE Fight Night 24.
Jarred Brooks, the division's former world titleholder, will no doubt enter this match-up as the clear favorite.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Adiwang warned Balart about the devastating storm that's coming his way.
"That [pace] is really his main strength. It's not that it's scary per se, but it's really dangerous if you don't know how to handle that pressure."
Meanwhile, 'El Gladiador' also comes from a decorated wrestling background, which should be an interesting match to Brooks' elite grappling acumen.
Don't miss this epic showdown at ONE Fight Night 24, which will air free for Prime Video subscribers in North America.
Jarred Brooks foregoing slams in an all-important clash with Gustavo Balart
Jarred Brooks loves to violently slam his opponents with wreckless intent on the canvas. However, since his signature move cost him his strawweight MMA belt last time out, the American said he won't use it against Balart.
'The Monkey God' said in an interview with the South China Morning Post:
"I've been training for three months for this fight, and I have not trained one slam. I'm going out with a very different mindset into this fight."
