"It's really sad" - Conor McGregor's coach responds to X user calling for site-wide boycott of Elon Musk
As one of the richest men in the world, tech billionaire Elon Musk has no shortage of friends and foes. While many see Musk as a sentinel of free speech and expression, many others have a more antagonistic view of him.
However, it looks like the American Businessman seems to have a backer in UFC megastar Conor McGregor's camp. The Irishman's coach John Kavanagh recently clapped back at a netizen for campaigning against Musk.
Earlier this week, X user Martin Leahy called for his fellow netizens to block the Tesla CEO on the platform:
"Everyone should block Elon Musk on TWITTER! Post your screenshots and tweet!"
The SBG Ireland head honcho was irked by the user's antics and responded by writing:
"Do a bit of boxing or something lad, even just hit the pads. It's really sad you think this is some brave act of defiance."
While it is unclear what prompted the user to develop such animosity towards the billionaire, Musk has divided public sentiment with his bold policies since acquiring Twitter in 2022.
While the platform faced constant criticism for policing speech during previous management, its new policy claims to guarantee free speech. This means very little content is now banned on the platform. Even properly labeled consensual adult content can now be shared on the website.
Furthermore, Musk has recently been in the limelight for his pessimistic attitude toward the LQBTQ+ community. Couple that with him endorsing Donald Trump for the upcoming US presidential elections, there are multiple reasons why certain people might have a gripe against him.
When Conor McGregor approved of "UFC" fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg
Among the crazy rumors of last year were rumblings of a potential MMA fight between Elon Musk and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. And it looks like Conor McGregor was all in for the idea.
Speaking to Adam's Apple in 2023, 'The Notorious' claimed that he'd fully support the fight if it were to take place under the UFC banner:
"I'm interested. Are they going to go ahead with it? If it happens under the UFC banner, I'm with it. It has to happen under the UFC banner and then I'm with it."

Unfortunately, the fight was never made. In an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Musk claimed that differences in opinion about location and promoters were what prevented it from happening.
