“It’s very wild what they’re doing” - Joe Rogan lauds ONE Championship’s variety of martial arts fights
UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan has always been a champion of all aspects of martial arts competition.
On his podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience, the stand-up comedian and MMA personality often hosts guests from all across the combat sports world, recently featuring the likes of Mikey Musumeci and Gordon Ryan.
On a recent episode featuring ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson, Rogan praised ONE Championship for the way it hosts various forms of martial arts competition all under one banner.
Shedding a spotlight on ONE’s continued expansion into submission grappling, Rogan said:
“One thing that’s really interesting about [ONE Championship] is that they’re really mixing everything up. They got grappling matches. You know Mikey Musumeci is over there competing, Garry Tonon, the Ruotolo brothers, it’s very wild what they’re doing. They have Muay Thai matches, kickboxing matches.”
On the same episode, Demetrious Johnson also spoke about this aspect of competing in ONE Championship and how it opened up the door to his mixed-rules superfight with Rodtang.
At ONE X in March, Johnson and Rodtang made history in ONE Championship, competing in a fight that saw alternating rounds between Muay Thai and MMA rulesets.

“He gave me that same feeling again” - Demetrious Johnson admits to being rocked heavy by Rodtang on Joe Rogan's podcast
As previously mentioned, MMA legend Demetrious Johnson recently sat down with world-renowned comedian Joe Rogan on his podcast.
In a podcast reaching a near three-hour runtime, they discussed everything from ‘DJ’ leaving the UFC to his experiences with ONE Championship and what he learned from his losses.
One of the key discussions they had during the episode was on Johnson's ground-breaking mixed-rules superfight with Rodtang.
Johnson spoke about the way the fight came together, as well as how it felt to be competing against Rodtang. The bout was scheduled for alternating rounds of Muay Thai and MMA.
Rogan asked 'Mighty Mouse' if the muay thai phenom hit hard in there during the opening round, to which the flyweight champion resonded:
"I think the last time I got rocked in any of my fights was probably John Dodson and he [Rodtang] gave me that same feeling again."
