"It takes a village to achieve this" - Jackie Buntan world title win vs Anissa Meksen to Boxing Works team
Newly crowned ONE strawweight kickboxing queen Jackie Buntan couldn't keep her emotions together when she thanked her team for transforming her into the world champion she is today. The Filipina-American superstar reached the peak of her career when she bested multi-time kickboxing champion Anissa Meksen at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug.
Speaking to Mitch Chilson inside the ring, she didn't forget to thank her Boxing Works team for playing an integral role in her victory, as she accepted the 26-pound gold strap. She said:
"I'm so lucky to have such a great team. My coach, Brian and his family, my team at Boxing Works, my strength coach Nick, and all of you guys have been with me since the start, Nikolai too.
Buntan added:
"Everybody, all of you guys, I'm in here alone, but it takes a village to achieve this. This is for you guys, this is more than just me. I'm sure I'll have my words. I can't even think right now, but just give me a whole week to process this, but thank you everyone! This is for you guys, thanks so much!"

Fans are truly happy to see Jackie Buntan win the inaugural kickboxing crown inside the Mecca of Muay Thai in Bangkok, Thailand. It's certainly been a long time coming for Buntan, who has worked very hard to get into this position after tackling Muay Thai over the last few years.
Although her world title loss to Smilla Sundell for the strawweight Muay Thai belt was gut-wrenching, Buntan made major improvements to her game which ultimately led her to her success.
Fans had nothing but congratulatory words for her after watching highlights of her world title brawl with Anissa Meksen.
