Joe Rogan has high praise for Jake Paul's performance against Anderson Silva

Joe Rogan was all praise for Jake Paul's performance against Anderson Silva. Paul, a YouTuber-turned-professional boxer, faced MMA legend and former UFC middleweight (185-pound) champion Anderson Silva in a catchweight (187-pound) professional boxing bout on October 29.

The fight witnessed the 25-year-old Jake Paul score a knockdown against the 47-year-old Anderson Silva en route to a unanimous decision win. In an edition of the the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) Podcast, MMA personality and veteran UFC commentator Joe Rogan lauded Paul for his win over 'The Spider'.

Rogan pointed out that Paul's boxing skills are often downplayed because of his image as a YouTube star. Regardless, he believes that Paul's boxing victories over UFC legends such as Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva are nothing to scoff at. A few excerpts from Rogan's statements regarding Paul have been noted below (*quotes courtesy: BJPenn.com):

“He [Paul] demands respect. He beat Anderson Silva. Knocked him down, it was wild as f*ck… We should point this out, some people are trying to say that fight was fixed because of the knockdown."

He further added:

“I just want to explain to people this is what happened… Anderson moved forward to Jake Paul and Jake Paul hit him with a sort of a step-in jab and caught him right on the chin. And when he caught him on the chin, Anderson Silva was falling backward and then he leans away from the right hand and he goes down. He was down from the punch, but it looks like the right-hand doesn’t connect, but the left hand is what f*cking him up.”

Ben Askren on a potential boxing match between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz

In an interview with Submission Radio, retired MMA fighter Ben Askren addressed the possibility of Jake Paul (6-0 boxing) facing former UFC star Nate Diaz (0-0 boxing) in his next pro boxing bout. Askren, who himself suffered a first-round TKO loss against Paul in April 2021, opined that Diaz too would lose to Paul in the boxing realm.

Ben Askren suggested that a possible Diaz-Paul boxing matchup wouldn't do great business. Paul's fight with Askren reportedly garnered 1.5 million pay-per-view buys, whereas his two fights against Woodley and last fight with Silva fetched less than one million buys combined.

Askren further explained that Diaz is much smaller than Silva and a less skilled striker:

"I don't know why anyone would think that Nate has much of a chance given what just happened. Nate's a lot smaller. I don't think anyone would consider Nate on the level of striker that Anderson is, but yeah I guess it might happen."
