“It will be a big, big war” - Alexis Nicolas itching to get his hands on Regian Eersel at ONE Fight Night 25
Alexis Nicolas, the newly minted ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion, can't wait to brawl with his predecessor Regian Eersel when they rematch in Bangkok, Thailand.
After achieving what seemed to be impossible as the first man to defeat Eersel in the promotion, 'Barboza' wants to be the first to knock out his foe when they clash at ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II on Oct. 4.
They're set to collide inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium, where Nicolas not only wants to achieve this feat but also get his hands on the $50,000 performance bonus with a decisive victory.
The Frenchman told ONE Championship in a recent interview about what's going to happen in his rematch against Eersel:
“I just want to have a crazy rematch. It will be a big, big war and everybody will know who I am. I think everybody thinks that Eersel will win, you know, same as the first fight."
He added:
"A lot of people think it was luck, that I was lucky in that fight, but no, no luck – only work and strategy."
Will Alexis Nicolas be able to prove himself as a true champion, or will Regian Eersel flips the script to let everyone know that his loss was only a fluke?
Alexis Nicolas claps back at Regian Eersel's claims of him being "fake champion"
The rematch between ONE lightweight kickboxing king Alexis Nicolas and former divisional ruler Regian Eersel is heating up, with both parties throwing comments at each other.
After his 10-fight winning streak was halted in their first encounter, Eersel has his own reservations about how Nicolas took away his gold, saying that he doesn't consider his foe a true champion after failing to beat him decisively.
However, 'Barboza' retaliated and told Sportskeeda MMA:
"He doesn’t get to decide whether I’m a true champion or not. I have the belt, I am the champion. And I have to win again to stay there."
ONE Fight Night 25 will air live in U.S. primetime free of charge for all Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America.
