Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis purse money: Estimated payouts based on their previous earnings

The Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis showdown pits a rising British boxing star against an former American champion, with both fighters on the cusp of securing another world title shot. Today, we examine some of their past reported purses, which could be indicative of their upcoming fight's payouts.

Earlier this year, MARCA cited a report by Total Sportal regarding Jack Catterall's estimated payout from his high-profile undisputed super lightweight title showdown against Josh Taylor in Feb. 2022. The fight ended with Taylor bagging a split decision victory. Many argued that Catterall was more deserving of the judges' nod. The report estimated that Catterall bagged half a million ($500k) for it.

Both fighters took on other challenges in the ensuing years before meeting in a rematch in May 2024. This time around it was a non-title bout, with Scotland's Taylor taking on England's Catterall to settle their long-running feud.

As reported by Sporty Salaries, Catterall, was expected to secure a $500k guaranteed purse, which was estimated to rise to the $1.2-$1.5 million range based on PPV sales. Caterrall ultimately won the rematch via unanimous decision.

Regis Prograis' previous payouts could be indicative of a possibly greater share in purse against Jack Catterall

America's Regis Prograis notably defeated Jose Zepeda via 11th-round KO to capture the vacant WBC super lightweight title in Nov. 2022. Prograis famously took to X after that fight and suggested that his check for the fight had bounced. Nevertheless, he eventually confirmed that he received his $1.08 million guaranteed purse and $240k bonus.

Moreover, Prograis' most recent fight, a highly-publicized clash against Devin Haney, transpired in Dec. 2023. Haney defeated 'Rougarou' via unanimous decision and dethroned him as the new WBC super lightweight champion. As reported by Michael Benson, Haney had claimed his purse for the fight would be $6 million. Prograis was estimated to earn a lower payout, albeit still in the millions.

TheSportster reported that per the CSAC (California State Athletic Commission), both boxers bagged a guaranteed purse of $1.5 million respectively. The report added that per sources, the guaranteed purses were $3 million for Prograis and $4 million for Haney.

Based on the previous payouts, Prograis appears likely to bag the bigger purse when he faces Catterall. Their fight purses haven't been disclosed yet. Also, the aforementioned numbers are estimated/reported figures and haven't been officially confirmed. In boxing and other combat sports, a fighter's total purse is generally higher than the reported numbers due to undisclosed bonuses, perks, etc.

The Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis fight was initially booked to go down on Aug. 24, 2024, but it was postponed because Catterall suffered an injury. Presently, the rescheduled Catterall-Prograis super lightweight matchup is scheduled to headline a boxing card at the Co-op Live in Manchester, England, on Oct. 26, 2024.
