Jackie Buntan admits she was disappointed when she had to postpone Anissa Meksen fight initially: “I broke my toe pretty badly”

Filipina-American striking sensation and former ONE world title challenger Jackie Buntan won't give any excuses for pulling out of the Anissa Meksen fight earlier this year.

Buntan and Meksen were scheduled to face off a few months ago, but the California native ran into a debilitating foot injury in training camp, causing her to postpone the world title fight.

Buntan says she would have fought if she could. Thankfully, the two are finally booked to meet again soon.

Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Buntan addressed the previous situation.

The 27-year-old said:

"When I broke my toe pretty badly it was like exactly one month away from the fight. So, I was devastated, that whole week from when I broke my toe and after, it took about one week for me to get out of that funk."

Jackie Buntan of the United States and the Philippines is set to face decorated Algerian-French kickboxer 'C18' Anissa Meksen in a battle for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title.

The two will clash at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Prime Video, which will broadcast live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, November 8.

Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action live and absolutely free with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Jackie Buntan is adapting to the kickboxing rule set just fine: "The transition was quite smooth"

Jackie Buntan is used to threatening foes with all eight limbs in Muay Thai. But against Anissa Meksen at ONE 169 on Prime Video next month, the Filipina-American star will be gunning for the division's kickboxing gold.

She told Sportskeeda MMA that the transition from Muay Thai to kickboxing has been going swimmingly.

The 27-year-old California native stated:

"Yeah, the no clinch and no elbow, the transition for that was fine. You know, my strengths come in a lot of my punches and my kicks, punches especially. So, the transition was quite smooth."
