Jackie Buntan excited to score big win over ‘legend’ Anissa Meksen: “That’s what’s gonna make the victory that much sweeter”
ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title challenger Jackie Buntan of the Philippines and the United States believes she has the opportunity of a lifetime in her next fight when she takes on Algerian-French kickboxing and Muay Thai legend 'C18' Anissa Meksen this weekend.
Buntan is scheduled to step into the ring opposite the highly decorated veteran, in a battle for ONE Championship gold, and the 27-year-old Californian says she is more than well-prepared to do whatever it takes to get the win.
Speaking to the media at the official ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Prime Video press conference, Buntan said that Meksen being a legend makes this fight one of the biggest of her career.
The Boxing Works representative stated:
"Like you said she’s a legend in the game, and I think that’s what’s gonna make the victory that much sweeter, being able to fight somebody who’s on top of kickboxing and being able to make my mark in the world with it."
There's no doubt that whoever wins this fight will go on to represent a whole new crop of talent, as it's for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title.
Buntan is confident she will emerge victorious over Meksen, no matter how much the odds are stacked against her.
