Jackie Buntan promises to hold nothing back against Anissa Meksen at ONE 169: "Get in there and make it a fight"
Jackie Buntan has been making sure to leave no stone unturned during her preparations for her next outing under the ONE Championship banner.
The 27-year old has proven herself to be one of the top contenders in the strawweight Muay Thai division during her time with the promotion. At ONE 169 on Nov. 8, she will temporarily leave this pursuit behind in order to crossover into the world of kickboxing.
She will face Anissa Meksen at Lumpinee Stadium for the inaugural ONE strawweight kickboxing world championship in Bangkok, Thailand.
Jackie Buntan knows that this is a big challenge she has in front of her, making the switch to kickboxing and facing off with an experienced and highly regarded opponent straight off the bat.
Though she's put in the work to make this jump as seamless as possible, she's also placing emphasis on sticking to what she does best.
In a recent exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, she spoke about playing to her own strengths in order to have the best chance of success:
"The plan is to get in there and make it a fight, you know. Do what I do, be Jackie, and fight how I fight, but it's gonna be a different look this time under kickboxing rules."
Jackie Buntan can look to put the pressure on Anissa Meksen
Competing in a strike for strike kickboxing encounter with Anissa Meksen might not end too well for Jackie Buntan.
The huge gap in experience between them is going to be a bridge that the Filipino-American will need to cross at some stage.
Putting the pressure on her opponent, making it a fight and playing to her strengths are her best bets of negating that.
With the power she has shown in Muay Thai, a fight is surely going to suit her better than the extremely technical and well-versed Meksen.
