Jacob Smith bummed close friend Liam Harrison has called it quits in fighting career: “It's sad for me to see”

ONE Championship flyweight Muay Thai contender Jacob Smith of the United Kingdom is doing his best to come to terms with his close friend and colleague 'Hitman' Liam Harrison's fighting career being over.

Harrison is an absolute legend in 'The Art of Eight Limbs' and is one of Smith's idols growing up in this sport. But the 'Hitman's career is close to its end, as the icon announced his retirement from ONE Championship earlier this year.

'Hitman' is intent on having one more go around in his own promotion to close out the show back home in London. And Smith is feeling all kinds of emotions.

Speaking to Combat Sports Today, Smith shared his thoughts on Harrison's career.

The 32-year-old Bad Company / Thaifist representative stated:

"And I think the plan is to have one fight in the UK, on his own promotion, and then it's Liam. He is, you just never know. His plan is to have one more fight for his own promotion. And then, you never know [with the gloves] in normal eight-ounce gloves, yeah."

Smith continued:

"I think his time in ONE Championship is done, which is sad, and it's sad for me to see him as a friend, not fighting on that stage, not at that level because he's at that level. The four-ounce gloves change things a little bit. And, you know, maybe it should come a little bit too late for him, didn't it? So it's sad, yeah because Liam's my mate in any way."
