Jacob Smith hesitant to give away his game plan for Rodtang redo at ONE 169: "You guys just gotta witness it in the fight"
Jacob Smith believes he will hold the key to unlock Rodtang Jitmuangnon's near-impassable defense when they meet again at ONE 169. However, the British slugger does not want to reveal too much of that plan ahead of fight night.
The Liverpudlian meets the Thai striking icon for the second time on martial arts' biggest stage inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Nov. 8, with redemption and his foe's ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title right at the top of his wishlist.
The Bad Company and Thai Fist representative debuted against 'The Iron Man' in a quarterfinal fixture of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix Championship at ONE 157 in May 2022.
Despite having a night to forget – being largely outplayed by Rodtang's trademark tools for nine long minutes – it has proved to be a valuable lesson for the English striker as he heads into what could be another barnburner for the watching world.
Jacob Smith had this to say to Sportskeeda MMA when asked about his plan and tactics for this fight:
"I'm not going to tell you what I'm doing in my fight camp or what I have done in my fight camp to overcome Rodtang. You guys just gotta witness it in the fight."
Rodtang vs. Smith II will be one of four world title matchups set to be part of ONE 169 inside the Mecca of Muay Thai on Friday, Nov. 8.
Jacob Smith plans to use his speed to dent Rodtang in Bangkok war
While his hard-hitting weapons have played a key role in each of his past fights, Jacob Smith promises to rely on his pace to tackle what comes his way at ONE 169.
Already hungry to pull one back over 'The Iron Man,' Smith had this to say on his advantages over Rodtang in their hotly anticipated showdown. The 32-year-old told Sportskeeda MMA:
"I would say my advantages over him would be speed and hunger and just being as strong as him."
