Jacob Smith not impressed by Rodtang’s most recent performance: “His fight with Denis Puric wasn’t very good”
Third-ranked ONE Championship flyweight Muay Thai contender Jacob Smith of the United Kingdom is full of confidence heading into his highly anticipated rematch against 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon this weekend.
It's not just because he believes in his abilities but also because Smith was not impressed by Rodtang's most recent performances against Superlek Kiatmoo9 Denis Puric.
Rodtang lost a three-round war to Superlek at ONE Friday Fights 34 late last year, and then took home a unanimous decision victory over 'The Bosnian Menace' at ONE 167 last June, turning in a solid performance. However, Smith found 'The Iron Man' lacking in both fights.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Smith talked about Rodtang's recent outings.
The 32-year-old Bad Company / Thaifist representative said:
"Fighting Superlek, though, that fight was unbelievable. I hold Superlek as the pound-for-pound best. They went to war. But other than that fight, his fight with Denis Puric wasn’t very good. But I’m not going to take much away from that because I don’t think he took Denis very seriously at all."
Fans are no doubt excited to see Smith and Rodtang run it back in what is expected to be an epic rematch this weekend.
