Jacob Smith says much is at stake in Rodtang Jitmuangnon rematch at ONE 169: “I do imagine how my life’s gonna change”

Third-ranked ONE Championship flyweight Muay Thai contender Jacob Smith says it took a while for the magnitude of his next fight to sink in.

For months in training camp, Smith has kept his head down, working tirelessly to prepare himself for the biggest fight of his career. However, he treated it just like any other fight, and despite being a hundred percent ready to go, Smith now says he finally understands what's at stake.

Smith is set to do battle with flyweight Muay Thai king and Thai icon 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon this weekend for the ONE gold and says a victory over such a massive name will skyrocket his career and change his life.

Speaking to the media at the official ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Prime Video press conference, Smith shared his thoughts on his showdown with Rodtang.

The 32-year-old Bad Company / Thaifist representative stated:

"Yes, I do imagine how my life’s gonna change when I win the belt. The further off from the fight it was, I just wanted to look at the man and wanted to beat the man. But the closer the fight’s getting, I realize when I win the belt, it’s gonna change my family’s lives."

Needless to say, Smith is confident he can get the job done against Rodtang, no matter how impossible it may seem.
