Jake Paul explains how ayahuasca ceremony in Costa Rica sparked his decision to challenge Mike Tyson: "It showed the butterfly effect"

Jake Paul is set to take on boxing legend Mike Tyson in a bizarre professional boxing match on Nov. 15. The pairing has been heavily criticized due to the massive age gap between Tyson (58) and Paul (27).

While fans have been wondering how the matchup was put together, Paul explained the origin of the idea in episode 2 of the Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson documentary series. Paul said:

"About two and a half years ago now, I went to Costa Rica for my first Ayahuasca ceremony. I wanted to uncover things about myself. One of the craziest things was the vision I had of me and Mike Tyson fighting as if it had already happened or something in future, or was going to happen, that's the feeling that gave me. And, it showed me the millions of kids watching through their TV and their devices and it showed the butterfly effect of what that creates for the sport of boxing." [18:20]

Jake Paul reveals his conversation with Mike Tyson after his visions at the Ayahuasca ceremony

Speaking in the aforementioned episode of the Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson documentary series, Jake Paul said that he wasted no time and approached Mike Tyson with a proposal for a fight. According to Paul, the boxing legend was excited about the idea and agreed to make the fight happen:

"So the next day, I get in contact with Mike. He's like, 'Yeah, Jake. I love this idea. This is awesome, man! This sounds great. We need to make this happen.' And, that's the power of opening yourself to the energy of the universe but also acting on those things." [19:15]

Paul predicted the outcome of the Nov. 15 fight, saying:

"I, Jake Joseph Paul, will knock out and defeat 'Iron' Mike Tyson." [19:07]

While the combat sports community has largely criticized Jake Paul for fighting against an aging legend, Tyson has been looking at the situation from a different standpoint.

During a recent appearance on the Pound-4-Pound with Kamaru and Henry podcast, Tyson said that he still feels young and puts it on his training partners in the gym. While implying that he feels age is a societal construct, the 58-year-old said that Paul calling him out has given him an opportunity to prove his fighting spirit.
