Jake Paul posts concerned tweet as NFL's Damar Hamlin collapses mid-game
Like the rest of the NFL fandom, YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul was also extremely concerned after seeing Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapse after suffering a cardiac arrest during Monday (January 2, 2023) night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hamlin got hit hard in the chest while engaging in a tackle during the first quarter of the NFL game. Even though the 24-year-old athlete got back on his feet after the exchange, he quickly collapsed back onto the ground.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident, 'The Problem Child' tweeted saying that the game should be canceled and the focus should be on saving the athlete's life:
"Yo cancel the game. Save that man’s life. Prayers for Hamlin."
Although the YouTubers' intervention probably had little to do with it, the NFL game was ultimately postponed owing to the critical condition of the 24-year-old athlete.
Damar Hamlin's heartbeat was restored on the field after administering emergency CPR and he was later transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further treatment. The athlete's condition is currently listed as critical.
According to sports surgeon Dr. David Abbasi, a medical condition called Commotio Cordis, which stops electrical activity in the heart, was what probably caused the athlete's sudden collapse.
Earlier last night, Hamlin's manager Tweeted that although his client's vitals were back to normal, medical professionals have put him to sleep to carry out further tests.
Video: Jake Paul signs with NFL side Cleveland Browns
Earlier in December 2022, YouTuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul seemingly signed a contract with his native NFL side, the Cleveland Browns, as a "junior associate content assistant" in a gag video.
In a video posted to the younger Paul brother's Instagram handle, the 25-year-old could be seen signing an official contract to join the NFL side's social media team.
The tongue-in-cheek video starts with Paul joining Browns executive vice president JW Johnson on stage thinking that he is going to sign a contract to play for the NFL side.
However, Johnson quickly crushes the social media star's professional football dreams by revealing that the franchise was considering him for a position on their social media team and that too as a junior associate.
Later in the gag segment, the disheartened social media star poses alongside Johnson, who unveils Jake Paul's Cleveland Browns Jersey.
