Jake Paul proves Joe Rogan right by losing decision to Tommy Fury
Joe Rogan thoroughly believed in Tommy Fury's boxing ahead of his fight against Jake Paul. He was proven right on the night.
Paul's much-awaited clash against Fury resulted in an upset for the unbeaten favorite. The eight-round bout went the distance and was ruled in favor of Fury via split decision, snapping Paul's six-fight winning streak.
Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy was amongst those who were most confident of Paul winning. Portnoy repeatedly made strong assertions about the result and did not give Fury a chance in the matchup.
With two minutes remaining in the seventh round of the fight, Portnoy took to Instagram to apologize and take accountability for his previous comments. He mentioned opposing Joe Rogan on his podcast and accepted that the UFC commentator was right about Tommy Fury.
Portnoy also conceded that his boxing opinions will no longer hold the same credence after he got it wrong for this fight. He wrote:
"As a leader of men I need to take accountability for the worst prediction of my life. I’ve never been more wrong about anything ever. Tommy Fury proved me wrong. I didn’t think he had a shot in hell. @joerogan was right. We need more leaders in this country who will admit when they are a moron. Today I am that leader/moron. Credit to me for admitting that"
Rogan accepted Portnoy's apology and replied to the post:
"You’re a good man, Dave Portnoy."

Joe Rogan shuts down Barstool Sports founder over Tommy Fury and Jake Paul clash
In an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, David Portnoy got into a heated discussion with host Rogan over Tommy Fury.
Portnoy was adamant that Jake Paul would overwhelm and beat Tommy Fury. However, Rogan refused to listen to it, instead playing a highlight compilation and drawing his guest's attention to it:
"You're telling me, this guy doesn't look like a boxer - you're out of your f*****g mind. I don't give a f**k [about who he's fighting], dude. Look at this, he's fighting a professional boxer. You're crazy if you think Tommy Fury isn't a boxer. This guy's a f*****g boxer. I don't give a s**t. He's one hundred percent a boxer. Dude, you're high! Tommy Fury is one hundred percent a legit boxer."
Joe Rogan ultimately got the better of his friend and was also duly acknowledged for it.
