Jake Paul responds to criticism about his boxing match with Mike Tyson: "People are just mad that it's permanently on BoxRec"
The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight was controversial, to say the least. Much was made about Paul fighting someone decades older who was in poor health. Yet, 'The Problem Child' has remained defiant in the form of criticism, firing back at his detractors at a recent press conference.
According to Paul, the criticism aimed at the fight wasn't and isn't legitimate. In fact, he doubled down on the bout, patting himself on the back for how well the event performed from a financial standpoint. He even went as far as to proclaim himself the face of boxing.
"There's no response to the reaction of the Tyson fight. I quite frankly didn't look at it. What do I care that people have to say about anything that I do? If anyone in my life has something to say, they'll text me. And if you don't have my number, then I don't give a f**k. So, all the texts were, 'Best event ever,' 'Incredible,' 'You're the face of boxing.' All of these things, record-breaking."
Instead, he opined that it is due to his detractors being displeased that he defeated an idol of millions in Tyson, and that his win will remain permanent on both his record and Tyson's.
"People are just mad that it's permanently on BoxRec that I beat Mike Tyson."

Regardless, many lambasted the matchup as a shameless cash-grab. Tyson came into the bout recovering from major health issues while also being 31 years older than Paul. He was, in no way, shape or form, the Tyson of old and it showed in his inability to get just about anything going for more than two minutes.
Jake Paul's boxing career has been underwhelming from a sporting perspective
Despite once stating his goal to become a world champion boxer, Jake Paul's selection of opponents has been the subject of tremendous criticism. He built his career off the back of beating undersized and declining MMA fighters, some of whom weren't even strikers, many years his senior.

In terms of boxers, besides Mike Tyson himself, he has only fought either unremarkable journeymen who were inactive and older, or the likes of Tommy Fury, who was the only opponent his age. Coincidentally, 'TNT' remains the only fighter to beat Paul.
