Jake Paul's sparring partner Jake Bostwick lauds former Disney star's "crazy" power, shares bold prediction for Mike Perry fight
Jake Paul is set to take on bare-knuckle boxing sensation Mike Perry this Saturday, and according to the former's sparring partner, Jake Bostwick, 'The Problem Child's' punching power will prove too much for 'Platinum' come fight night. In fact, he believes Paul will stop Perry.
The two men lock horns in a traditional boxing match this weekend, which robs Perry of a significant advantage he enjoys in the bare-knuckle boxing world. Bigger gloves have a larger surface area, changing the impact of blows and the dynamics of guarding, as there are less gaps for punches to slip through.
Bostwick, though, believes that the major differences will be skill and power, saying as much to SunSport in an exclusive interview.
"His power is crazy, bro. Every time we spar, I'm just like, 'I hope you don't catch me with something.' He does punch hard. He really, really does. He's definitely got significantly better, his movement, everything's way better. And I think even Perry sparred with him back in the day and around the Ben Askren time."
It is indeed true that Perry sparred with Paul in the infancy of the latter's influencer boxing career, even lauding his skills. Now, however, 'Platinum' is his adversary in an actual fight, and has vowed to give 'The Problem Child' a rude awakening. Bostwick, though, believes that outcome to be unlikely.
"So, for Perry to remember that, and then to see how he is now, I think that's gonna be a bit of a shocker. I honestly think Jake can stop Perry within, like, four or five rounds. Stop him. Either knockout to the head, to the body, but I think he could for sure hurt him and get a stoppage. I genuinely believe that."
Whether Bostwick's prediction comes to pass remains to be seen. Paul will look to use Perry as a stepping stone for an eventual boxing match with heavyweight legend Mike Tyson, who he was originally scheduled to face.
Mike Perry was once linked to Jake Paul's older brother
While Jake Paul is taking on Mike Perry this Saturday, 'Platinum' was previously enlisted as a backup fighter for the Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis boxing match due to fears that the former Bellator fighter would withdraw from the bout.
Fortunately, the matchup took place, with 'Maverick' winning via disqualification after Danis attempted, and failed, a takedown and guillotine choke, both of which are illegal in boxing.
