Jake Paul weighs in on WNBA MVP debate after Indiana Fever defeats Chicago Sky
It's no wonder YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul keeps an eye on the WNBA amid its rise in popularity in 2024. After one of the season's biggest games, 'The Problem Child' gave his take on who he believes to be the best player.
So far, the Indiana Fever has been the story of the 2024 season because of Caitlin Clark's increasing effect on the sport. With the Fever topping the Chicago Sky by 19 points on Aug. 30, Paul was one of many who tweeted his appreciation for Clark.
However, while most conversations were on the Rookie of the Year battle between Clark and Angel Reese, Paul took his belief in the Fever guard to another level, saying that he sees her as an MVP candidate.
While Clark has taken the league by storm, she is not in the MVP conversations, with Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson the clear favorite to win the award. Paul's tweet was a respectable attempt to show his support for Clark, but an MVP season appears unlikely.
After a slow start to her rookie year, Clark has put together a historic first season in the WNBA, averaging 18.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. Her assist numbers lead the league, comfortably ahead of Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas' 7.6 per game.
Jake Paul's continuous support for Caitlin Clark
Since Caitlin Clark made her WNBA debut in May, Jake Paul has consistently been one of her most vocal supporters on social media. 'The Problem Child' has been in Clark's corner during the highs and lows of her career despite having no direct connection to the former Iowa Hawkeye.
Paul's support for Clark was evident when she was controversially knocked down by Chicago guard Chennedy Carter. The 27-year-old called for the WNBA to "fix" the issue that many argued about with Clark taking what appeared to be unnecessary treatment.
As a fan of many different sports, Jake Paul is often seen courtside at NBA games but has yet to appear live at a WNBA event. That could soon change with the WNBA playoffs coming up in September and the Fever currently slated to make the cut.
