Jamahal Hill slams Magomed Ankalaev for "a pretty boring" fight against Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 308: "It showed a lack of weapons"
Jamahal Hill has directed criticism at Magomed Ankalaev and Aleksandar Rakic after the light heavyweight showdown that transpired between the two last Saturday at UFC 308. Hill deemed their fight boring and asserted that it might hinder the possibility of Ankalaev getting a title shot next.
Ankalaev defeated Rakic via unanimous decision at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi. Following that, he reiterated that he'd like to be given his long-awaited title shot against UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Taking to his official YouTube channel, Jamahal Hill addressed the Ankalaev-Rakic fight.
'Sweet Dreams' stated:
"Magomed Ankalaev versus Aleksandar Rakic -- holy sh**! What a pretty boring fight. Pretty boring, pretty boring, fellas."
Additionally, Hill suggested that the matchup highlighted Ankalaev's lack of weapons, showing that the Dagestani is mainly a counter-fighter who lacks the ability to lead the action. He also suggested that the lackluster fight was more a result of Ankalaev's faults, saying:
"This fight was boring. It showed a lack of weapons; I'm not going to say on Rakic's side because Rakic kind of got into his bag a little bit and kind of showed some of the weapons he has. Showed a lack of weapons on Magomed's end. I'll get in that later. It seems like we're probably going to be on a collision course, so I'll elaborate in that another time."
That being said, Hill went on to say that Ankalaev deserves a title shot. However, he once again jibed that the UFC isn't exactly fond of Ankalaev, adding that with his latest performance, the Dagestani combatant might once again miss out on a title shot.

Magomed Ankalaev fires back at Jamahal Hill
Magomed Ankalaev took to X and addressed Jamahal Hill's comments. He referenced Hill's most recent fight, a first-round KO defeat against Alex Pereira at UFC 300 (April 2024). Ankalaev jestingly questioned whether 'Sweet Dreams,' who's eyeing a comeback, was still asleep from the knockout:
"Is this guy still sleeping from Alex KO?"
The war of words between Magomed Ankalaev and Jamahal Hill has intensified over the past few months. Hill has been adamant in his opinion that the UFC probably doesn't like Ankalaev and that the organization is, therefore, unlikely to grant him a title shot.
