Jamahal Hill thinks he can finish Glover Texeira in their upcoming title fight at UFC 283

Jamahal Hill has a golden opportunity to make his mark in the UFC next year when he takes on Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 for the vacant 205lbs belt.

The light-heavyweight division has been left in limbo after Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev went to a draw in the UFC 282 main event, leaving the door open for Teixeira and Hill.

Despite the unique nature of the opportunity, Hill is more than confident of getting his hand raised against the veteran Brazilian fighter. The American believes he can shock many by finishing Teixeira at UFC 283 and feels his previous results show how dangerous he is.

While speaking to James Lynch on his official YouTube channel, Jamahal Hill stated:

"What happens when I hurt somebody? Who have I hurt that I did not finish? When I hurt somebody what happens? It's game over."

He contined:

"We've seen Glover hurt somebody and they survive, we've seen Jiri (Prochazka) hurt somebody and they survive. So when we are talking about finishing ability, you can't compare me to nobody else bro."

Since joining the UFC in 2020, Jamahal Hill has managed to finish 80% of his official wins in the organization via TKO/KO. His most recent stoppage came against Thiago Santos in Hill's latest UFC outing, stopping the Brazilian in the fourth round.

Jamahal Hill explains how fast the UFC booked his bout against Glover Teixeira

If either Jan Blachowicz or Magomed Ankalaev managed to get their hand raised in the main event at UFC 282, neither Jamahal Hill nor Glover Teixeira would be fighting for the 205lbs belt next year.

Jiri Prochazka vacated the light-heavyweight strap due to a shoulder injury. This has left the 205lbs division in limbo, but the UFC will be hoping to finally crown a champion at UFC 283.

During an interview with John Morgan of MMA Underground, Hill explained how quickly the UFC offered him a shot at the light-heavyweight belt after the UFC 282 mishap:

"They called me before they even left the cage. By the time Magomed [Ankalaev] was walking up the aisle, I had already agreed."

The American will now take on former UFC champion Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 next year. This is the first time Hill has featured in a UFC title fight, with his opponent a seasoned veteran and former 205lbs champion.
