Japanese megastar Takeru wanted to prove he’s “the strongest in the world” when he signed his ONE Championship contract
Japanese kickboxing icon and former ONE world title challenger 'The Natural Born Crusher' Takeru Segawa signed with ONE Championship to prove one thing.
He wants to be known as 'the strongest in the world' by taking on the absolute best in the world's largest martial arts organization.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Takeru reiterated his goals ahead of his next big fight this weekend.
'The Natural Born Crusher' said:
"The ideal is to prove I'm the strongest in the world. That's the goal. That's why I came to ONE. I want to achieve that and then retire."
Takeru Segawa is one of the biggest kickboxing stars to come out of Japan. He has competed for years at the highest level in his home country.
Joining ONE Championship in January this year, however, 'The Natural Born Crusher' failed to capture ONE gold when he lost a five-round unanimous decision to reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai and flyweight kickboxing world champion 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9.
It was a painful setback for Takeru, but one that he learned a lot from. Now, the 33-year-old veteran is ready to return to the ONE ring in search of his first victory in the promotion.
