Jarred Brooks confident Mansur Malachiev won't be able to keep up to his pace: "Cardio would play hard into him"
Jarred Brooks is ultra-confident that Mansur Malachiev won't stand against his cardio if they were to encounter each other for their next fight.
Brooks and Malachiev intensified their rivalry after the Russian star called him out in a post-fight interview at ONE Fight Night 25. That night, Malachiev defeated No.2-ranked strawweight Bokang Masunyane via decision, which influenced his decision to send a message to the current interim world champion.
Upon hearing the call-out, Brooks has deeply analyzed what Malachiev has to offer, if a potential fight occurs. So far, he's listed only weaknesses that could reduce the Russian's chances of becoming the next world champion.
Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda MMA, he said:
"Cardio would play hard into him as well as Malachiev gets tired even though he pushes through it rough and rugged."
Jarred Brooks has been such a dominant force in the division because he's so good at blending different fighting styles.
He's incorporated kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and Greco-wrestling into his arsenal, which makes him an absolute danger to anyone sharing the cage with him.
If the champion, Joshua Pacio, doesn't return from his injury, then we could be seeing an interim battle take place between Brooks and Malachiev .
Jarred Brooks reveals how he wanted to take Gustavo Balart into deep waters to illustrate his improved striking game
Jarred Brooks is certainly on a different level than most contenders. He's already risen to the level that no one expected to see in his professional grappling career.
Part of it is due to self-belief and manifestation, but it's also due in part, to his desire to learn and try new things.
Unfortunately, Brooks never got to showcase his evolved striking capabilities in his world title outing against Gustavo Balart because he finished him so quickly.
Speaking to ONE Championship, Brooks said:
"I knew he was going to get a little bit more tired within that second and third round, which I did want to show my skills that are on the feet as well. Because, I truly think that I'm just as good on my feet as I am on the ground."
Jarred Brooks defeated Balart with a first-round submission to capture the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title at ONE Fight Night 24.
