Jarred Brooks explains why he’d be the perfect dance partner for Demetrious Johnson’s hotly-anticipated return

Jarred Brooks believes he's the perfect opponent for ONE flyweight MMA world champion Demetrious Johnson.

ONE Championship fans have not seen 'Mighty Mouse' in action since he scored a decisive decision victory over Adrian Lee at ONE Fight Night 10 in Denver, retaining his 26 pounds of gold and closing out the first trilogy of his illustrious career on top.

Since then, Johnson has left the door open for a return to the Circle but is strongly considering laying down his gloves and calling it a career.

But if 'DJ' wants one more fight, 'The Monkey God' is happy to oblige.

"I think that Demetrious needs somebody like me at the end of the day if he's gonna want another fight," Brooks told Sportskeeda MMA during a recent interview.

Brooks, of course, is the former ONE strawweight MMA world champion.

Sadly, he handed his belt back to Joshua Pacio at ONE 166 after their bout ended in the opening minute due to an unfortunate disqualification.

Jarred Brooks looking to stay busy after disastrous title loss at ONE 166

After claiming the strawweight MMA crown with a dominant five-round showing against Joshua Pacio at ONE 164, Jarred Brooks put his gold up for grabs against 'The Passion' in a long-awaited rematch at ONE 166: Qatar.

Seconds into the scrap, 'The Monkey God' shot in for a takedown, nearly taking Pacio's back in the process.

Lifting his opponent off the ground, Brooks unintentionally spiked Pacio on the top of his head, bringing an immediate end to the contest. Referee Herb Dean disqualified Brooks crowning Pacio the new ONE strawweight MMA world champion.

Fortunately, Pacio was okay and will make a full recovery. 'The Passion' has already confirmed that once cleared, he will happily give Jarred Brooks a trilogy fight.

Until then, 'The Monkey God' is hoping to keep himself busy inside the Circle.

"God puts me in a lot of positions where I always have to work back," Brooks said. "I always have that underdog mentality so it actually works in my favor. I get to fight other people [while Pacio is out]."
