Jarred Brooks eyes performance bonus-winning outing against Gustavo Balart: “Nothing else matters”
American MMA superstar Jarred Brooks has set his eyes on the prize. Coming into his clash with former Olympian Gustavo Balart of Cuba at ONE Fight Night 24 on August 2, 'The Monkey God' has prepared himself to go all out and take the victory at all costs while also aiming for the US$50,000 bonus.
Although that would not be an easy task against the formidable Cuban wrestler in Balart, Brooks has been almost perfect since he made his ONE Championship debut in November 2021.
His single loss in the organization was due to a disqualification in his world title defense against Joshua Pacio at ONE 166: Qatar earlier this year.
Knowing that almost nothing can stop him in his track, Brooks told FightWave about his next performance against Balart in a recent interview:
"It doesn’t matter upon names, it doesn’t matter upon trash talk, nothing [else] matters except for going out and getting a 50 thousand dollar bonus in this fight."

What Jarred Brooks has to do to secure a victory over Gustavo Balart
Heading into a world championship bout might not be something new for former ONE strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks. He has always proven himself with some new tricks up in his sleeves.
In his ONE interim strawweight MMA world title clash with Gustavo Balart, he intends to use more weapons from his arsenal to prove his worth and claim the golden belt.
Brooks will most likely have to set up his takedowns more effectively due to his opponent's size and formidable wrestling skills.
Once he does that, the Indiana native will have plenty of opportunities to push his submission game to force a tap from Balart or even rely on his hammer fists and elbows on the ground to win the TKO.
