Jarred Brooks finds new perspective in MMA: “Be respectful and quiet and let the kicks do the speaking”
American strawweight MMA fighter Jarred Brooks is confident of his abilities but admits overzealousness gets the better of him every now and then. It is something he looks to handle better when he returns to action in Thailand next week.
'The Monkey God' will battle veteran Gustavo Balart for the interim ONE strawweight MMA world title at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video on Aug. 2 at the famed Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.
In an interview with the FightWave YouTube Channel, Jarred Brooks touched on various topics about his martial arts career, including things he still has to work on like not focusing too much on the sidelights:
"I'm not a bad guy, bro, I'm just not. So, I think that the best way to approach this mixed martial arts game, especially ONE Championship, is just be respectful and quiet and let the kicks do the speaking."

At ONE Fight Night 24, Jarred is out to claim the interim belt to get back in a position to return as the undisputed strawweight world champion after being dethroned in his last fight by rival Joshua Pacio by disqualification. He was DQ'd after executing an illegal slam in the opening round of their title rematch in March, that had Pacio hitting the canvas head first.
An interim title fight is being held by ONE Championship with Pacio out indefintely because on an ACL injury he suffered even before he took on Jarred Brooks.
ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs Balart on Prime Video will be available live and for free on U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Jarred Brooks looks to punish Gustavo Balart with his striking
Jarred Brooks said he has a lot of ways of going about defeating Gustavo Balart in their title clash at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video on Aug. 2 in Thailand but he is particularly looking at capitalizing on what he believes is his advantage in striking.
He shared this in an interview with ONE Championship after studying the tendencies and shortcomings of Balart from his previous matches.
The former ONE strawweight MMA world champion said:
"He's very beatable. You could catch him with a kick to the body or a kick to the head. I think the kicks are goiung to be a big factor in this fight."
The interim strawweight title clash between Brooks and Balart will be the headlining contest of ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video, with the winner set for a unification match against currently injured divisional king Joshua Pacio at some point.
