Jarred Brooks looks back at his submission victory: “I'm glad to show people that I could finish Gustavo Balart”

Jarred Brooks, who claimed the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title after defeating Gustavo Balart, is ecstatic about his submission victory.

The American superstar forced Balart to tap after a tight rear-naked choke in the first round of their main-event match at ONE Fight Night 24 last weekend, and he couldn't hide his joy after finishing the former Cuban Olympian.

The Indiana native looked sharper and stronger than before when he was trading strikes and taking Balart to the ground. From there, his game plan was executed with precision to the end.

Brooks shared his feelings after submitting the wrestler in a post-fight interview with ONE Championship:

"Oh, good. At the same time, I knew he was going to get a little bit more tired within that second and third round, which I did want to show my skills that are on the feet as well. Because, I truly think that I'm just as good on my feet as I am on the ground.
"I'm glad to show people that I could finish Gustavo Balart in spectacular fashion."

The replay for ONE Fight Night 24 is available on demand to all Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.

Jarred Brooks eager to hop into a trilogy fight with Joshua Pacio

As an interim world champion, Jarred Brooks still has one big task at hand, which is to unify the belts with his old rival and divisional ruler, Joshua Pacio.

Both superstars still have unfinished business after their last match ended with a disqualification for Brooks for unintentionally spiking Pacio's head onto the canvas. As a result, he lost his belt to the Filipino.

And now, while Pacio is recovering from another injury, he told ONE:

"I have unfinished business with Jarred Brooks, and I intend to settle it in the future."
