Jarred Brooks open to Muay Thai and kickboxing stint in ONE: "I just want to fight champions"
If he has it his way, ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks would get to square off against a kickboxing or Muay Thai world champion in ONE Championship down the road.
'The Monkey God's' quest for greatness knows no boundaries, and he's willing to stay true to his martial arts principle to become more complete in fields other than MMA and tap into his truest potential.
In a text interview with Sportskeeda MMA last week, Jarred Brooks shared:
"I just want to fight champions and want to prove a point. I think at 118 [pounds]. I want to prove to myself I can go in with the best and show my worth."
Of course, fans have already witnessed the Mash Fight Team upstart collide against Mikey Musumeci for his submission grappling crown last year.
Though he eventually tapped to the kingpin's acumen on the canvas, Brooks did well until the finishing sequence.
Jarred Brooks provides his take on Joshua Pacio trilogy
While a move to the striking realm will be something he'd never turn down, Brooks, of course, wants to get one man off his radar before anything else: ONE strawweight MMA world champion Joshua Pacio.
'The Monkey God' surrendered his gold at ONE 166: Qatar in March this year via disqualification after accidentally slamming the Filipino striking specialist on his head less than a minute into their showdown inside the Lusail Sports Arena.
He has since captured the division's interim crown with a submission of Gustavo Balart in light of Pacio's injury.
With Jarred Brooks owning a win over Pacio — after beating him for the 26 pounds of gold inside the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines, in December 2022 — the scores are tied at one apiece, and a trilogy should be in the offing.
Speaking on the magnitude of a rubber match with 'The Passion', Jarred Brooks offered:
"It's just going to be fireworks. We're just going to explode in there, the ONE circle. It's going to be terminator vs. a predator. And you are a predator, my brother."
