Jarred Brooks primed to bounce back in upcoming world title tilt: “That’s when you get to see the best version of me”
Jarred Brooks is ready to show the absolute best version of himself.
After suffering a devastating DQ loss to reigning ONE strawweight MMA world champion Joshua Pacio in Qatar, 'The Monkey God' will return to the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok for ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video.
In the main event of the evening, Brooks will square off with streaking Cuban star Gustavo Balart for the interim ONE strawweight MMA world title.
Following his first defeat inside the Circle, Jarred Brooks is ready to show how a true world champion responds to a setback.
“When I lose, that’s when you get to see the best version of me,” Brooks said in an interview with Sherdog.com.
Before the loss to Pacio at ONE 166 in March, 'The Monkey God' was a perfect 4-0 with wins over a slew of division standouts, including Lito Adiwang, Hiroba Minowa, Bokang Masunyane, and Pacio. He'll look to pick off another fighter from the strawweight top five this Friday night in The Land of Smiles.
Jarred Brooks ready to let his hands and feet do the talking inside at ONE Fight Night 24
Aside from his world-class wrestling skills, Jarred Brooks also holds a black belt in trash-talking. His ability to sell a fight with his mouth was on full display for both of his bouts with Joshua Pacio. However, 'The Monkey God' has been quieter than usual in the weeks leading up to his interim title tilt with Gustavo Balart.
Addressing the lack of vitriol that typically precedes his appearances inside the Circle, Brooks suggested that it's time to keep his mouth shut and let his hands and feet do the talking.
"I'm not a bad guy, bro, I'm just not. So, I think that the best way to approach this mixed martial arts game, especially ONE Championship, is just be respectful and quiet and let the kicks do the speaking."
ONE Championship fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE Fight Night 24 live and for free via Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime on Friday, August 2.
