Jarred Brooks says Atlanta will be the perfect setting for an all-American clash with Demetrious Johnson
Former ONE strawweight MMA world title holder Jarred Brooks is gunning for a chance to fight Demetrious Johnson in an all-American clash in Atlanta this November.
The Singapore-based promotion returns to the US with back-to-back monthly events this year. The first stop will be in Denver, Colorado, for ONE 168, and then in Atlanta, Georgia, for ONE 169.
Everybody who's anybody is vying for a spot on one of these cards, and Jarred Brooks is definitely one of them.
Brooks' last fight on US soil was in back 2018, during his UFC tenure, so it would be a dream come true to fight at home once more. And which better dance partner to share this with than the flyweight GOAT himself, 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson?
In a Sportskeeda MMA exclusive, Brooks said:
"If I do get to face Demetrious Johnson in Atlanta, that would be a good treat for the American crowd, especially for people who's never watched ONE Championship and those who rarely see people at lighter weight classes. So I want to wow the American crowd."
Jarred Brooks is currently en route to a thrilling interim world title showdown with top rising prospect 'El Gladiador' Gustavo Balart on August 2 in Bangkok, Thailand. After Brooks lost his belt to Joshua Pacio by disqualification, he's determined to surprise fans with an impressive finish.
ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs Balart will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
"Jumping into the title picture" - Jarred Brooks continues to grind at home as ONE Fight Night 24 fastly approaches
'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks is hard at work since he's three weeks out from appearing at ONE Fight Night 24.
The Mash Fight Team representative hasn't lost his fighting spirit, as per the training clip on Instagram. Moving past a disqualification loss to Joshua Pacio, Brooks has plunged into warrior mode as he prepares for his interim world title war.
To demonstrate his determination to get his gold back, the Amerian superstar is working even from the comfort of his home.
"Jumping into the title picture," wrote Jarred Brooks in the caption.
