Jarred Brooks says he’s yet to fight someone who can make him “reassess” his mixed martial arts game
Jarred Brooks was always used to dominating his opponents in mixed martial arts, and he's confident no one on this planet has made him think twice during his fights.
In an interview with FightWave on YouTube, Brooks said he still goes through the gauntlet in training but his opponents have yet to pose a threat to him inside the cage.
He said:
"I have gotten my a** beat plenty of times in the practice room and I still do, but I'm looking forward to actually somebody trying to take me out and maybe like, Oh s***, I need to reassess my mixed martial arts game."
Jarred Brooks has been on a near-perfect form since he made his ONE Championship debut in November 2021.
The former ONE strawweight MMA world champion racked up four straight wins over Lito Adiwang, Hiroba Minowa, Bokang Masunyane, and Joshua Pacio.
The American star's lone MMA loss in the promotion was when he was disqualified in his world title defense against Pacio at ONE 166 in Qatar earlier this year.
Brooks inadvertently spiked Pacio's head to the canvas during their matchup, a move that is deemed illegal under ONE Championship, that referee Herb Dean was forced to disqualify him and award the ONE strawweight MMA world title to the Filipino star.
'The Monkey' God, however, has another chance at gold when he faces third-ranked contender Gustavo Balart for the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title at ONE Fight Night 24.
Brooks' interim world title match against Balart goes down at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium on August 2.
ONE Fight Night 24 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Jarred Brooks talks about his motivation ahead of interim world title match against Gustavo Balart
Jarred Brooks believes he'll reclaim undisputed gold once he's done with his interim world title matchup against Gustavo Balart.
Heading into his pivotal clash against Balart in Bangkok, Brooks said that he wants to prove that he's the best fighter around and the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title could help him solidify that.
"I want to go against everybody in the room until I can prove I'm the best to myself."
