Jarred Brooks says John Lineker's KO power could sleep Rodtang: "It might be the first time you see Rodtang knocked out cold"
Jarred Brooks believes that a clash between two of the most fierce strikers in the world could end badly for a striking superstar.
'The Monkey God' is an elite mixed martial artist who, following his success in the strawweight division, has spoken about wanting to compete in kickboxing or Muay Thai at some stage.
Brooks' striking plans are currently on hold due to his looming trilogy fight with Joshua Pacio once the champion is back and ready to compete.
However, one fighter that has recently made this switch is the former ONE bantamweight world champion John Lineker. With back-to-back wins and knockouts in Muay Thai, the Brazilian is targetting a fight with Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
Given both men's reputations, it would be one of the most anticipated fights in recent history if it does end up happening at some stage in the future.
'The Iron Man' is known for his aggression and incredible durability but Brooks isn't so sure that this will stand up to the knockout power of Lineker. He told Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview that he could see the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion struggling to handle the impact:
"If John Lineker corners him... If it does happen, it might be the first time you see Rodtang knocked out cold. So I wouldn't be surprised if I saw him [Rodtang] want [to do this possible match] in 10-ounce gloves."
Jarred Brooks and Rodtang are focused on their own paths right now
Jarred Brooks is always looking for new ways to challenge himself, whether that means facing new opponents or competing in different rule sets. That said, after what happened at ONE 166 earlier this year, his focus has to be on regaining control of the strawweight division.
Brooks believes he is still the strawweight world champion despite losing the belt via a disqualification.
As for Rodtang, a firefight with Lineker will need to wait due to his upcoming title defense at ONE 169 on November 8.
