Jarred Brooks says potential Demetrious Johnson showdown would be a hit in the States: “The perfect fight”
Former ONE strawweight MMA world champion and current first-ranked ONE strawweight MMA contender 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States believes he and MMA legend 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson will make for the perfect superfight for ONE Championship in the United States.
The 31-year-old Mash Fight Team representative is eyeing a spot on the upcoming ONE 169: Atlanta card this November, featuring himself and none-other-than the legendary 'Mighty Mouse'.
Speaking to the South China Morning Post in a recent interview, Brooks says he understands that fighters in lighter weight classes don't get the shine that they should be getting, but that he and Johnson could change all that.
'The Monkey God' said:
"Of course, I'm going to put my say out and be like, yo, I'm here. I'm American. But at the same time, I understand the industry, and I understand how things roll. So, yeah, I'm not really mad about that. But if you did want to put on the smaller weight classes, I think that me and Demetrious Johnson would be the perfect fight and make people really like little guys fighting."
Needless to say, Brooks needs to get past his next opponent before he even starts to talk about a superfight with a living MMA legend. And it's certainly no easy task.
