Jarred Brooks says Rodtang Jitmuangnon could fight John Lineker “on the outside” in dream striking showdown
It may still be far from reality, but the potential matchup between John Lineker and Rodtang Jitmuangnon has Jarred Brooks cooking up probable in-ring scenarios.
Lineker, the former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion, has slowly carved out a promising Muay Thai run and repeatedly called Rodtang out for a potential super fight.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Brooks said Rodtang could employ a different game plan if he steps between the ropes against the hard-hitting Brazilian knockout machine.
Jarred Brooks pointed out that Rodtang, the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, could utilize his range and do most of the damage from a distance instead of pocket fighting with Lineker.
'The Monkey God' added that Rodtang would only close the distance to land that one finishing elbow shot for the knockout blow.
He said:
"I could see either Rodtang playing him on the outside with kicks or KO with an elbow on the inside."
Lineker is a natural striker who relies heavily on his boxing in his MMA matches, and he easily translated that innate power to Muay Thai where he now holds a 2-0 record.
His two wins were knockout finishes of Asa Ten Pow and Alexey Balyko.
Taking on Rodtang, however, is a huge stride in competition for Lineker.
Rodtang is a 272-win veteran with a perfect 6-0 record in his matches for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title.
'The Iron Man' is also gearing up for his next world title defense when he takes on Jacob Smith in the co-main event of ONE 169 on November 8 at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
ONE 169 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
