“He’s definitely getting a world title shot” - Jarred Brooks sees a bright future for Jeremy Miado
‘The Monkey God’ Jarred Brooks is keeping a close eye on the rest of the strawweight division as he prepares for his world championship fight.
At ONE 164 on December 3 in Manila, Brooks will finally get his hands on the division’s top dog, Joshua Pacio, after their initial fight was postponed for undisclosed reasons.
Whilst he remains fully focused on defeating Pacio to make his own dreams come true, Brooks has continued to pay attention to the contenders that he could face if he becomes the world champion.
In an interview with MMA Sucka, Jarred Brooks spoke about one contender in particular, Filipino fighter Jeremy Miado:
“I think that Jeremy Miado is on the cusp. Jeremy Miado is very tough. I think that he has shown throughout the time that he’s been in ONE Championship that he can stay in that area. With one to two more wins with Jeremy Miado, he’s definitely getting a title shot, he’s on a three-knockout win streak so I’m looking forward to fighting somebody like Jeremy Miado.”

Jeremy Miado added the most impressive win of his current streak in his last fight at ONE on Prime Video 3. With a devastating performance, he stopped Danial Williams in the third round, giving him his fourth consecutive win and finish.
Jarred Brooks wants to prove Demetrious Johnson wrong and "mix it up with the GOAT"
ONE's No.1-ranked strawweight Jarred Brooks is preparing to challenge for the world championship at ONE 164 when he takes on Joshua Pacio.
In a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, ONE flyweight world champion ‘Mighty Mouse’ Demetrious Johnson name-dropped Brooks, which didn’t slip past him.
The strawweight already has wins over two of the division's top talents in Hiroba Minowa and Bokang Masunyane. After hearing his name leave the mouth of one of the pound-for-pound greats, Brooks responded at the prospect of crossing paths with ‘DJ’.
Jarred Brooks took to Instagram and respectfully called out Johnson:
"I love DJ! He is the GOAT and I appreciate the name-drop, but I would love to mix it up in there with the GOAT and kindly prove him wrong that there isn't any advantage if we were fighting. I would love to win a world title then trade our knowledge in the circle together."

Whilst Jarred Brooks’ focus has to be on his strawweight world title fight against Pacio, a match-up with Johnson down the line is definitely something that would get the fans excited.
