"The guy's a great fighter, he doesn't need to do that" - Coach Javier Mendez shows class in addressing Conor McGregor's tweets about Islam Makhachev

Conor McGregor did not take kindly to Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski agreeing to meet in the octagon for the lightweight championship and pound-for-pound No.1 status recently.

In the aftermath of Makhachev's victory at UFC 280, the newly crowned lightweight champion called out the featherweight champion. Volkanovski and Makhachev duly agreed to clash next year.

McGregor took to Twitter to react to the impromptu face-off:

"My two old belts. On two little ticks. This fight does 10 buys"

Makhachev's coach Javier Mendez addressed McGregor's tweets in an interview with Submission Radio:

"He has the tools to beat anybody, but will he? He's been mentally incomplete there, he's never been there. When's the last time that he had a complete fight where he fought properly? You know, he's a huge name, so whoever gets to fight him makes a huge payday. And obviously everbody would be jumping at the bit to get a hold of him. Because he's proven to be beatable. He's not proven to be indestructable. And he himself, he can hype up anything so let him hype it up. I don't care much for him anyway."

Mendez also spoke about the unnecessary comments that usually come from 'The Notorious':

"I wish, I wish and that'll never happen. I wish he could just be a fighter, so people, that everybody can respect and at least love, you know. I just wish he would just keep it clean. The guy's a great fighter, he doesn't need to do that. Then he would have my respect."

Conor McGregor offers Alexander Volkanovski advice in his fight against Islam Makhachev

Conor McGregor did not stop at just calling out both fighters. He also offered advice to Alexander Volkanovski on how to neutralize Islam Makhachev's grappling threat.

In a reply to 'Volk' on Twitter, McGregor told him to go heavier and 'be a bowling ball':

"And we dance on. Good. I was in your exact spot one time don’t forget. 145 coming up. Good luck. I’d say go heavier. Rugby days. Be a bowling ball. That’s how I’d do it as you. Your condition right now as i see it, I don’t know. But bowling ball style for you for best chance."

Conor McGregor is all too familiar with Makhachev's style, having faced the full wrath of Khabib Nurmagomedov in their blockbuster fight at UFC 229. However, he claims to have found a counter to the Dagestani pressure since then. It remains to be seen if he will step back into the octagon to make good on his claims.
