Jiří Procházka shares prediction for Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307, wants trilogy against 'Poatan'
Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree Jr. just received one of its first predictions from none other than former light heavyweight kingpin Jiří Procházka. Unfortunately for the next title challenger, the Czech fighter does not have much confidence in his ability to dethrone 'Poatan' as the 205-pound champion.
Moreover, Procházka is gunning for a third fight with Pereira, whom he has lost to twice now, both defeats being TKOs. While he has never faced Rountree Jr., another brutal striker, he believes his own experience fighting Pereira is enough for him to foresee a continued light heavyweight title reign for the Brazilian champion.
Procházka shared his prediction for the Pereira vs. Rountree title fight, which will headline UFC 307, at a recent Q&A in Perth, Australia.
"I really don't understand the chance for [Khalil] Rountree, but still keep my mind on Alex Pereira, because I really know... Sorry, but I will be... I believe I can beat him."
Check out Jiří Procházka predicting Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree Jr.:
While many are of the opinion that Pereira will run through Rountree Jr. due to the fact that the matchup will be largely contested on the feet, and few can match 'Poatan's' striking, Procházka believes himself capable of toppling the Brazilian. However, given the nature of his losses to 'Poatan,' he is unlikely to get a third crack any time soon.
Jamahal Hill slams Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree Jr. title fight
Jiří Procházka isn't the only ex-light heavyweight champion intent on rematching Alex Pereira to scoff at the Brazilian's upcoming bout with Khalil Rountree Jr. Jamahal Hill, who was knocked out by 'Poatan' at UFC 300, doesn't believe Rountree Jr. deserves a shot at gold.
'Sweet Dreams' tweeted:
"Can't believe what I just saw announced!!! So a guy pulls out of a contender fight because of a failed drug test for a banned substance and gets rewarded with a title shot?!! This is terrible for the sport and makes the rankings completely pointless!!!"
Hill argued that Rountree Jr., who was previously scheduled to fight him but withdrew due to a failed performance-enhancing drug test, should not be rewarded with an immediate title shot. He further claimed that doing so is bad for the sport, and it is easy to see why.
