Jiri Prochazka believes he has "what it takes" to beat Alex Pereira, names three potential opponents for next fight
It seems like Jiri Prochazka is persistent in his pursuit to be a better martial artist and recover from the loss against Alex Pereira at UFC 303.
Prochazka succumbed to a second-round TKO loss against the Brazilian in their rematch at UFC 303. The Czech fighter wields a 4-2 record in the UFC with both losses registered against Perreira.
'BJP' indicated the manipulation of black magic and ancestral recall from his opponent leading up to the encounter. Whether through arcane means or not, Pereira was able to strengthen the claim on the light heavyweight throne and potentially set up an opportunity to fight for the heavyweight title in the future.
All said and done, Prochazka is still convinced he has "what it takes" to vanquish Pereira. Speaking in a recent interview with Televizní noviny, he stated:
"I know I can beat Pereira. I feel I have what it takes and I just need to unlock the right things to really win." [h/t @ChampRDS on X]
When asked about potential opponents for his next assignment, he replied:
"I'll let my next opponent crystallize. I'm thinking of names, there's [Jamahal] Hill, [Magomed] Ankalaev, and [Jan] Blachowicz."

At 31, Prochazka still has plenty of time to mount a run that will eventually propel him closer to the title shot. As for his fans, the recent remarks could be a reassuring sign since he hinted at never fighting again should he fail to meet the personal benchmark of progress.
Jiri Prochazka claims he was battling staph infection ahead of UFC 303
Light heavyweight mainstays Jiri Prochazka and reigning champion Alex Pereira stepped in on short notice to save the UFC 303 card that went down on June 29, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The pay-per-view headliner of the card built around International Fight Week was originally scheduled as a welterweight bout between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler. However, McGregor was forced to withdraw from the showdown owing to a broken toe, leaving the main event slot in limbo.
Prochazka and Pereira stepped up to the task but it was Pereira who came out victorious with a brutal head kick and ground-and-pound just 13 seconds into the second round.
However, it has now come to light that Prochazka was reportedly batting staph infection leading up to the event. Speaking to Czech news channel CNN Prima News, Prochazka stated:
"The last two weeks have been health-wise – even though I said everything was fine, it wasn’t. This was manifested by staphylococcus, a spot on the body after a tick bite, an unhealed wound on the leg, and a crunch in the back after heavy lifting." [h/t @ChampRDS]
