Jo Nattawut feels no pressure to perform against Superbon: “I just want to do my best”
'Smokin' Jo Nattawut has nothing to prove.
After back-to-back bouts with reigning ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai, the Thai superstar will return to the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on Sept. 27 for a clash with the promotion's interim featherweight kickboxing king, Superbon.
Their clash will headlined an absolutely loaded ONE Friday Fights 81 card, airing live on pay-per-view and featuring some of the biggest names in MMA, kickboxing, and the 'art of eight limbs'.
Among them will be Nattawut who looks to put on a good showing against one of the best strikers on the planet:
"I don't feel like I have to prove anything to anyone," Nattawut told Sportskeeda MMA while discussing his upcoming clash against Superbon. "I just want to do my best."
Having already gone toe-to-toe with some of the biggest names in the game such as Giorgio Petrosyan, Chingiz Allazov, and the aforementioned Tawanchai, Nattawut will be more than ready to take Superbon to the limit and see his hand raised inside the 'Mecca of Muay Thai'.
Superbon looks for a win over Jo Nattawut in his second Muay Thai fight under the ONE banner
Through the majority of his ONE Championship run, Superbon's bread and butter has been his work in eight-ounce gloves. Capturing both the undisputed and the interim featherweight kickboxing world championships, the Thai icon has earned wins over Sitthichai, Marat Grigorian, Giorgio Petrosyan, and Tayfun Ozcan.
However, ONE Friday Nights 81 will see Superbon dawn the four-ounce glove for just the second time as he meets Jo Nattawut in a Muay Thai matchup that is sure to have everyone on the edge of their seats.
Asked about competing in both kickboxing and the 'art of eight limbs' during a virtual pre-fight press event, Superbon made it clear that he has no reservations about fighting in the two sports:
"I can fight in both Muay Thai and kickboxing, and I'm ready for both. I'm good at both. I like both Muay Thai and kickboxing. I can fight anyone as soon as I step into the ring. This is what I like to do, and it's the job I like."
Superbon's first Muay Thai fight under the ONE banner came in December 2023 against Tawanchai. Though he came up short on the scorecards, Superbon more than held his own against the featherweight Muay Thai world champion.
Will he see his hand raised this Friday when he meets one of ONE Championship's most explosive strikers? There's only one way to find out.
ONE Friday Fights 81 will air live and exclusively on pay-per-view on Friday, Sept. 27 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. You can purchase the event exclusively on the official ONE Championship website.
